LUCK-KEY Director LEE Gae-byok Gears Up for Follow-up

Following their scene-stealing roles together in the current box office smash Believer, rising star PARK Hae-joon and veteran actor CHA Seung-won will pair up once again in Cheer Up Mystery (translated title), the third work of LUCK-KEY (2016) director LEE Gae-byok.

Cheer Up Mystery will depict the relationship between a daughter and her father, with the latter role to be filled by CHA Seung-won, who was the first person to be cast in the project. PARK Hae-joon will play the father’s brother while JEON Hye-bin (Mermaid Unlimited, 2017) has also joined the cast.

Over the past two decades, CHA has always been in the public conscience through a variety of roles, ranging from his comedy roles in the works of KIM Sang-jin such as Attack the Gas Station! (1999), Kick the Moon (2001) and Ghost House (2004) as well as JANG Jin’s thrillers including Murder, Take One (2005) and Man on High Heels (2014).

Following his film debut in BYUN Young-joo’s Helpless (2012), PARK Hae-joon distinguished himself through a number of supporting roles before gaining wider attention as the lead of JUNG Jin-woo’s Fourth Place (2016). His turn in LEE Hae-young’s hit action-thriller Believer has cemented him as one of the bright new names in the industry.

Director LEE Gae-byok made his debut with 2005’s The Beast and the Beauty and found massive success with his YOO Hae-jin comedy vehicle LUCK-KEY, which attracted almost seven million viewers in late 2016.

Once casting has been completed, Cheer Up Mystery is expected to go before cameras in July. Production will be handled by Yong Film Inc., the company behind PARK Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden (2016), LUCK-KEY and Believer, and the film will be distributed by Next Entertainment World (NEW).
