Born KIM Jung-guk in 1981 in Busan, JUNG Woo studied film at Seoul Institute of the Arts before launching his career with roles in films such as <Conduct Zero> (2002), <My Tutor Friend> (2003), <A Good Lawyer‘s Wife> (2003) and <The President‘s Last Bang> (2005), which was around the time he also began to appear in TV shows. More film credits followed, including RYOO Seung-wan’s <Bloody Tie>, and <How The Lack Of Love Affects Two Men> in 2006. He drew notice for LEE Seong-han’s debut film <Spare> in 2008 and even became more renown for starring in LEE’s next film <Wish>, which he wrote based on his own life. The film opened at the Busan International Film Festival in 2009 and brought him Best New Actor from the Grand Bell Awards for his troubles. Now established in the acting field, JUNG became a star on television thanks to his casting in drama series “Reply 1994”, only returning to the big screen for the sci-fi anthology film <Doomsday Book> in 2012 (though it had mostly been shot in 2006) and then the North Korean spy comedy <Red Family> (2013), produced and written by KIM Ki-duk. In early 2015, he played one of the leads in CJ Entertainment’s music biopic <C‘est Si Bon>, alongside love interest HAN Hyo-joo. He next appeared alongside HWANG Jung-min in the mountaineering epic <The Himalayas>, his most commercially successful movie to date. He is married to KIM Yoo-mi, who was his co-star in <Red Family>.Less
