Big Budget Debut from Director of KOALA

Fresh-faced stars KANG Ha-neul and PARK Seo-jun are set to appear in the new Korean thriller Young Cop (literal title). The title will mark the commercial debut of indie director KIM Ju-hwan, whose previous credits Retriever and Koala (2013) have earned him acclaim on the local festival circuit.

KANG and PARK will play a pair of new recruits studying at police academy. After witnessing a kidnapping they are compelled to get involved in the case.

Active now for almost ten years on the big and small screen, KANG has created many new fans in the last few years, both for his work on TV and in cinema, with credits that span Mourning Grave (2014), C’est Si Bon (2015), Empire of Lust (2015), Twenty (2015) and DONGJU; The Portrait of A Poet, for which he took on the title role.

A well known TV star who rose to fame with shows such as Kill Me, Heal Me and She Was Pretty, PARK has already taken small steps in cinema, featuring as a supporting cast member in both The Chronicles of Evil and The Beauty Inside last year.

Director KIM is still not well known outside of Korea, but his unique and appealing blend of humorous and humane works garnered him a small but enthusiastic group of supporters in Korea.
