XAO YOU QIAO MU Co-Stars Super Junior’s Hangeng

Popular small screen actor JOO Won is kicking his film career up a notch after signing on to a new China-Korea co-produced melodrama. The project, titled Xao You Qiao Mu, will see JOO star alongside Hangeng, a former member of the K-pop group Super Junior. The film is a melodrama that is based on an internet novel that centers around a love story concerning three men and a woman.

At the helm of the production will be JO Jin-kyu, the director of classic gangster comedy My Wife Is a Gangster (2001). JO also wielded the megaphone for the third My Wife Is a Gangster in 2006 and the last year’s gangster comedy hit Man on the Edge.

JOO has developed a significant fan following due to his TV roles in Ojakgyo Family and 7th Grade Civil Servant, among others. His big screen forays have been less successful, with his most prominent role coming late last year, alongside KIM A-joong in the romcom Steal My Heart. The young star will next be seen in the comedy The Fashion King, which Finecut will begin sales for this week at the Cannes Film Festival.

Xao You Qiao Mu will be jointly produced and financed by China Film and Yuehua Entertainment. The film will go into production in mid-May, and undergo filming both in Korea and China.
