PARK Hae-il and SHIN Min-a will star in ZHANG Lu’s latest film Gyeongju (an Invent Stone corp. and Lu Film production). The romantic melodrama which trails a couple on a two day trip is to be directed by ZHANG Lu, who has received critical acclaim for his works such as Grain in Ear (2005), Chongqing (2007) and Dooman River (2010) at major international film festivals including the Cannes, Berlin, Paris and Seattle International Film Festivals.

Gyeongju (working title) features CHOI Hyun played by PARK Hae-il, a man who ventures out to Gyeongju on a trip down memory lane in honor of his dead friend, and encounters a café owner played by SHIN Min-a by chance. He becomes involved in a romantically comic situation after being misunderstood by the café owner. PARK Hae-il, who has performed as an array of characters in films such as Boomerang Family, Eungyo, War of the Arrows (2010) and Rules of Dating (2005) stars as CHOI Hyun, a professor at China’s Beijing University who returns to Korea after a long absence to attend the funeral of a close friend. SHIN Min-a, whose filmography includes The Naked Kitchen (2009), Go Go 70s (2008) and The Beast and the Beauty (2005), plays the mysterious and beautiful café owner while KIM Tae-hoon of An Ethics Lesson and South Bound plays a detective who meddles in their affair.

Gyeongju starts shooting at the end of this month. The film’s public release is scheduled for the first half of 2014.
