Ryu Seungryong returns to screens as Kim Hyun, a professor and best-selling author who has been struggling with writer’s block for seven years following his divorce from Miae (Oh Nara). What he doesn’t know yet is that Miae is now secretly carrying on a relationship with Soonmo (Kim Heewon), who is none other than Hyun’s best friend, not to mention the publisher he works with. Hyun remarried, but his wife and young daughter currently reside abroad. Meanwhile, he has a testy relationship with his 19-year-old son Sungkyung (Sung Yubin) and has also begun living with Yoojin (Mu Jinsung), a student of his whose writing has impressed him. He hopes they will write a book together, but Yoojin confesses some surprising feelings to him. 

Perhaps Love marks the directorial debut of veteran character actress Cho Eunji, who debuted in Im Sangsoo’s Tears (2001) and is known for films such as My Scary Girl (2005), Forever the Moment (2008) and The Villainess (2017).

Ryu is one of the industry’s most bankable stars, having appeared in four films which crossed the ten million viewer mark, including the two most successful Korean films of all time, Roaring Currents (2014) and Extreme Job (2019). Oh Nara was part of the hit drama SKY Castle, while Kim Heewon is a veteran character actor, seen in films such as The Merciless (2017) and Pawn (2020).
