Born in 1961, CHOI Nak-kwon became interested in film quite late, having graduated in Spanish from the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies before working in the commerce of Korean porridge. His marriage led him to reconsider his career, since his many business travels made it difficult for him to manage his finances and provide for his family. A friend he had first met at the music club of his university was now working at the music and audio post house BLUECAP and suggested him to give it a go, and so CHOI joined in 1995 BLUECAP where he would contribute to films such as <Piano Man> (1996) and <The Contact> (1997). He started reading books about filmmaking, and even attended a producing training course of 6 months organized by ShinCine. In 1998, he quit the post-production company to visit China and take a look at the local film market, but he was offered a director position at Q&C Film by KOO Bon-han as soon as he came back to Korea. Thus, he ended supervising the production of <Tell Me Something> (1999) despite his lack of experience. He however decided quickly thereafter to go independent and established in 2000 the production company Noon Entertainment. The first movie he produced there, <Bungee Jumping Of Their Own> (2001) was one of the most successful Korean films that year and earned its share of international recognition. After going through a slump in the late 2000s, he came back in 2011 with the planning of <Perfect Game> (2011). With his production company renamed as Choice Cut Pictures, he has recently executive produced the historical drama <The Fatal Encounter> (2014) and the comedy <MY ANNOYING BROTHER> (2016).
