With a short filmography of only four features, LEE nonetheless has firmly built a body of work that can be called uniquely his own. His ability to depict characters’ innermost emotions in a stylish manner within storylines that seem mundane on the surface has won him praise from a wide audience both in Korea and overseas. His films have been invited for special screenings at numerous film festivals in France, Spain, and other countries. Actresses who worked in lead roles of LEE’s films, such as [KIM Ji-su], [BAE Jong-ok], and [JEON Do-youn], have been praised for their delicate and balanced performances in his films. His 2011 film <Come Rain, Come Shine> was a competition entry to the 61th Berlin International Film Festival in 2011. The story centers on a young couple, played by [HYUN Bin] and [LIM Soo-jung], who are about to be separated and spend their last moments together in a house where they shared precious memories. The majority of the film is occupied with these quaint moments, reflecting LEE’s minimalistic yet rich approach. It took five years for LEE to return to screens with <A Man and a Woman>.
