Chungang University Theater and Film graduate BAEK Woon-hak started off his career with the short <Waist Bottle> in 2003, which picked up the Grand Prize from the Shin-young Youth Film Festival. Subsequently, he became a TV producer, as well as an ad producer, being involved in 50 commercials from 1993-96. In 1996 he was an assistant director on <CH 69> and three years later became involved in the scriptwriting and production of KANG Je-gyu’s landmark Korean blockbuster <Shiri>, which broke box office records at the time. He debuted as a feature filmmaker in 2003 with the release of the subway-set thriller <Tube>, about a hard-boiled detective going after a dangerous terrorist, which featured BAE Doo-na as a pickpocket among its cast members. Following a lengthy hiatus, BAEK returned to filmmaking in 2015 with the thriller <The Chronicles of Evil>, distributed by CJ Entertainment. In it, a detective (SON Hyun-ju) receives a promotion, only to accidentally commit a murder on the way home from his promotion party. When the body is mysteriously put up for public display the next morning and his station receives a mysterious call, the detective realises that something dangerous is afoot. The film also stars Daniel CHOI and MA Dong-seok.
