The Truth Beneath received the Audience Award at the 11th Festival du Film Coréen à Paris (FFCP) or Paris Korean Film Festival. The Audience Award is endowed to the film that received the most votes from audiences out of 13 films invited to the Paysage section. The festival’s Paysage section featured up-and-coming local movies including

DONGJU; The Portrait of A Poet,
Seoul Station as well as
The Truth Beneath.

The Truth Beneath is a story about a candidate for the National Assembly and his wife whose daughter goes missing just before the national elections. It is director LEE’s second project, who received attention for her feature debut
Crush And Blush (2008).
The film won prizes like the Best Director and the Best Actress awards at the
Korean Association of Film Critics Awards and the Best Actress award at the Buil Film Awards. Moreover, it attracted filmgoers while it was sold out one of the two shows at FFCP. In addition, it was selected as an opener of the 11th London Korean Film Festival.
