During the Chuseok Holiday Alone, the Number of Viewers Exceeded 2.83 million, Recording More Than 3.34 Million Viewers in Total

The film Confidential Assignment2: International ran alone during the Chuseok holiday, attracting 2.83 million viewers. According to the Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS) of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) on September 13 (Tuesday), Confidential Assignment2: International won the overwhelming first place with 2.83 million viewers for 4 days during the Chuseok holiday from the 9th to the 12th of September. Especially, from the 9th to the 11th, the number of weekend audiences was 2,098,699 with 75.9% of sales, ruling the theater district in Chuseok 2022.

Confidential Assignment2: International is a sequel to the hit movie Confidential Assignment, which attracted 7.81 million viewers in 2017. The sequel proved its box office success by topping the daily box office for 6 consecutive days since its release on September 7. The number of viewers surpassed 2 million within 5 days of its release and exceeded 3 million on the 12th, 6 days after its release.

The box office hit speed of Confidential Assignment2: International is very fast compared to the recent box office hit films. The first episode of the Confidential Assignment series, which was released during the Lunar New Year holiday in 2017, and Top Gun: Maverick, which dominated the theater this summer, surpassed 3 million viewers on the 12th day of their releases. Furthermore, Confidential Assignment2: International is fast-paced compared to the success of HANSAN: RISING DRAGON, the highest-grossing Korean film this summer, which attracted 3 million viewers in just 8 days after its release. Confidential Assignment2: International is a comic action film about the cooperative investigation of the detectives united for their own purposes, including a North Korean detective (Hyun Bin), a South Korean detective (Yoo Haijin), and a new FBI agent (Daniel Henney).

The film, 6/45, ranked second at the box office over the weekend. The number of weekend audiences is 304,828 with 10.9% of sales, it recorded 1,568311 viewers in total. Hunt secured 3rd place. The number of weekend audiences was 86,420 with 2.5% of sales, its total audience is 4,287,333. Now, Hunt has crossed the break-even point. Meanwhile, as Director Lee Jungjae, who starred in and directed Hunt, won the Outstanding Lead Actor at the Emmy Awards for the first time as a Korean actor, new attention is expected to be drawn to Hunt, which is currently being screened in theaters.

4th place at the weekend box office is the Korean animation, KATURI the Movie: The Big City Adventure, which was released on September 8. Its weekend audience is 55,087. The film is the first theatrical version of Korea's leading animation, KATURI, based on Kwon Jungsaeng's posthumous novel, 『KATURI: The Story of Mother Pheasant』. The project took 2 years to complete the theater-version animation, and it was chosen by family audiences during the Chuseok holiday.
