Animated Thriller Booked for Annecy, Fantasia and Sitges Fests

YEON Sang-ho’s third animated film Seoul Station recently had its world premiere at the 34th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival and has already been booked for a slew of events. The film will screen this year at the 40th Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the 20th Montreal Fantasia International Film Festival and the 49th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.

With a voice cast that feature RYU Seung-ryong (Miracle in Cell No.7, 2013), SHIM Eun-kyoung (Miss Granny, 2014) and LEE Joon (Rough Play, 2013), Seoul Station features a man who looks for his runaway daughter only to discover she has become a prostitute. Just as he about to be reunited with her, a zombie epidemic breaks out in Seoul.

Director YEON broke out onto the scene with the dark animated drama The King of Pigs in 2011. Following a premiere at the Busan International Film Festival, the film screened all around the world, beginning with the Cannes Film Festival. His follow-up The Fake (2013) was similarly acclaimed following its international bow at the Toronto International Film Festival. YEON’s first live-action feature Train to Busan, which follows the events of Seoul Station, is currently in post-production and expected to bow during the summer.

The film, which was produced by Studio Dadashow, financed by Next Entertainment World and is being sold internationally by FINECUT, opens theatrically at some point this summer.
