Directed by Jung Beom-sik, the Director of Epitaph and GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum

Director Jung Bum-shik's latest film, New Normal was released on November 8th. The movie features a cast of six actors, including Choi Ji-woo, Lee Yu-mi, Choi Min-ho, Pyo Ji-hoon, Ha Da-in, and Jung Dong-won.

New Normal is a thriller that portrays an era where fear has become a part of daily life. It showcases the everyday horrors that each of the six main characters experiences in and around Seoul.

Director Jung Beom-sik has been a consistent pioneer in the horror genre in the Korean film industry, including Epitaph (2007), set in Ansaeng Hospital in Gyeongseong in 1942, and GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum (2018), an experiential horror film shot in the style of found footage during a visit to the eerie Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital.

In this new film, New Normal is differentiated from the previous films by focusing on reality-oriented suspense. The stories of ordinary people, such as single person household, a job seekers, a job quitters, a convenience store part-timer, a middle school student, and a college student, are woven together in an omnibus format.

What's also noteworthy is the fresh combination of the main cast. Choi Ji-woo, returning after seven years since Like for Likes (2016), has chosen the horror genre 26 years after her debut thriller, The Hole (1997). Lee Yoo-mi, known for her roles in the Netflix’s Squid Game, All of Us Are Dead, and the drama Strong Girl, Nam-Soon portrays a job seeker. Choi Min-ho, known for his work with the group SHINee, plays a college student who looks for a relationship through dating apps, building his filmography with works such as Derailed and Battle of Jangsari.

Pyo Ji-hoon, who enlisted in the army after leaving an impressive mark in the drama Hotel Del Luna (2019), Jung Dong-won, who were loved for his trot competition program, and newcomer Ha Da-in, chosen by director Jung Bum-sik, will make their film debut through this movie.
