The second time after being invited to the 24th Udine Far East Film Festival

Director Oh Seyeon's debut film, Fanatic, which attracted attention at the 26th Busan International Film Festival and other Korean film festivals, has officially been invited to the 7th London East Asia Film Festival Documentary Section. It is the second time that Fanatic has been invited to overseas film festivals since its official invitation to the Out of Competition at the 24th Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, which was held in April.

Fanatic is the debut film of Oh Seyeon, a new director who made headlines by participating in writing, filming, editing, and acting for the film. Fanatic is a documentary about the director's experience in the relationship between stars and their fans. When ‘My Star,’ who she had been enthusiastic about since her teenage years, fell into a criminal, the director went out to find other fans in the same situation as her and captured their stories on camera. After being released as a world premiere at the 26th Busan International Film Festival, the film was invited to some leading film festivals in Korea, including the Seoul Independent Film Festival, the Muju Mountain Film Festival, etc., enjoying the sold-out parade.

Director Oh said, "I know that the relationships between stars and fans can’t be always beautiful and enjoyable. But we can't stop cheering and supporting someone with all our hearts, using money and time for our stars to reveal our love. Through the film, I wanted to hear the stories of fans suffering because they loved someone,” expressing her intention to plan the project. Director Oh Seyeon's Fanatic is set to be released in Korea on September 28.

The London East Asia Film Festival is the UK's largest Asian film festival and has introduced Asian films attracting attention each year to European audiences. Last year, 6 Korean films, such as Introduction (Director Hong Sangsoo), The Prayer (Director Min Kyudong), etc. were invited, and among them, Spiritwalker (Director Yoon Jaekeun) was even selected as the closing film. The London East Asia Film Festival, which marks its 7th anniversary this year, will open at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on October 19 and screen various films from East Asia until the 30th.
