The Busan Story Market, the World’s First Sales Marketplace for Original IPs

2022 Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) will introduce the Busan Story Market, the world's first marketplace that sells original IPs. The Busan Story Market is an original IP trading market and a networking venue between film and video industry officials and various content platform CPs (Content Providers) around the world. You can get an opportunity to reproduce stories, the beginning of all content, into various global platforms.

Initiated in 2012, the Busan Story Market has integrated the function of the ‘E-IP Market (Entertainment Intellectual Property Market)’ that selected 192 original IPs through its own public contests. While the existing E-IP Market conducted business pitching with only selected IPs, the Busan Story Market upgraded its function by allowing all kinds of companies to participate in the market. The production companies, platforms, or book publishers with original IPs can join the market freely by registering market badges and sales booths. Also, they can participate in pitching and 1:1 meeting programs by being invited to the official selected section through the entry.

In addition, the Busan Story Market introduces excellent IPs of each country through its official partners, such as Taiwan Creative Content Agency and Visual Industry Promotion Organization in Japan, and expands original copyrights to Asia by adding book IPs of Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. On top of that, Korean content-related organizations, such as Seoul International Book Fair, Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, etc., with domestic and foreign publishers and webtoon/web novel producers will participate in the market, expecting to unveil a richer IP lineup.

For the Korean original IP recruitment, which took place from May 23 (Mon) to June 10 (Fri), 201 works were submitted from 70 companies, proving the high interest in the Busan Story Market. ACFM said, "We intend to revitalize the global business of Korean stories through the Busan Story Market and leap into the world's largest story market where excellent stories from around the world are introduced and traded."

The 2022 ACFM, which holds the first Busan Story Market, will be held in BEXCO, Busan, for 4 days from October 8 to October 11, during the period when the 27th Busan International Film Festival is held.
