Star Books Second Consecutive Lead Role with Director SHIN Yeon-shick
PARASITE (2019) star SONG Kang-ho is quickly filling up his schedule. Though currently in production on the disaster film Emergency Declaration (translated title), the actor has confirmed that he will appear in the sports drama One Win (translated title) from director SHIN Yeon-shick. The film will go before cameras ahead of Cobweb (translated title), another collaboration between the actor and director which was announced earlier this year.
SONG is slated to appear in SHIN’s film as Kim Woo-jin, the coach of a women’s volleyball team that has never tasted victory. He helps them on their road to achieve the titular ‘one win’.
Currently on set with LEE Byung-hun and JEON Do-yeon for Emergency Declaration, from HAN Jae-rim, who previously directed him in The Show Must Go On (2007) and The Face Reader (2013), SONG, already a huge star in Korea for two decades, saw his fame surge internationally as one of the leads in BONG Joon-ho’s PARASITE (2019), which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival last year before making history at the Academy Awards as the first ever foreign language winner of the Best Picture Award. SONG was also part of the cast that triumphed in the Best Ensemble category at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this year.
Director SHIN, who debuted as a filmmaker by helming AHN Sung-ki in the 2010 indie drama The Fair Love, came to the broader attention of the local industry as the screenwriter and producer of LEE Joon-ik’s hit black-and-white Colonial Era drama DONGJU; The Portrait of A Poet (2016). SHIN has also made the acclaimed indie films The Russian Novel (2013) and the Jeonju Cinema Project The Avian Kind (2015), among others.
One Win is scheduled to begin production this coming November.
