Star Lineup for Return of Director KIM Tae-yong

An all-star cast is gathering for the sci-fi melodrama Wonderland (literal title), the long-awaited return of Late Autumn (2011) director KIM Tae-yong. JUNG Yu-mi is reportedly in talk to join a cast that already includes Chinese superstar TANG Wei, CHOI Woo-shik, PARK Bo-gum and BAE Suzy.

Wonderland is the name of a simulated universe where people can be reunited with their loved ones. JUNG Yu-mi and CHOI Woo-shik will play workers responsible for running Wonderland, while BAE Suzy and PARK Bo-gum will play a couple in their 20s, after PARK’s character has fallen into a coma. TANG Wei is set to play a widowed woman in her 40s.

JUNG Yu-mi is currently experiencing a surge in popularity as the lead of the hit feminist drama KIM JI-YOUNG, BORN 1982. The Silenced (2011) and TRAIN TO BUSAN (2016) star will also be seen next year as the lead of the Netflix action-drama series The School Nurse Files.

TANG Wei gained international attention as the star of Ang LEE’s period epic Lust, Caution in 2007 and quickly became one of China’s biggest stars. She made her Korean film debut in the US-set co-production Late Autumn, during which she met her future husband, Director KIM. The pair married in 2014.

Meanwhile CHOI Woo-shik appeared in BONG Joon-ho’s PARASITE this year, K-pop star BAE Suzy is known for the melodrama Architecture 101 (2012) and PARK Bo-gum is one of Korea’s top TV stars. He was last seen on the big screen in the Cannes-selected thriller Coin Locker Girl (2015).

Wonderland is aiming to enter production at the beginning of next year.
