JIMFF will be held for six days from August 8th to 14th

The 14th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) has received 1,409 films which represent its highest number of submissions so far. From March 1st and for a month, JIMFF had called for film entries on its official homepage.

The number of Korean music films has also significantly increased among this year’s total submissions. Compared to last year at the same period, feature films submissions have increased by 15% and shorts by 66%. This means musical films have become more popular and that more filmmakers turned to musical films.

While documentary films about famous or indie musicians had the highest percentage last year, the films this year represent a wider range of genres. In fact, there are more fiction films than documentary film this year thanks to the popularity of musical feature and animated films like Coco and La La Land. JIMFF’s office will make the official selection following their internal screening process.

This year’s JIMFF will be held for six days from August 8th to 14th in Jecheon. Visitors will be able to enjoy musical films from all over the world, as well as musical performances.
