2nd Silver Award for CJ 4DPLEX at International Tech Event
Screening technology firm CJ 4DPLEX has earned a Silver Award at this year’s Edison Awards for its new ‘4DX with ScreenX’ exhibition format. The screening tech was recognized in the ‘’Media and Visual Communication – Entertainment category’ at the awards, which took place in New York City.
‘4DX with ScreenX’ is a new hybrid technology which combines CJ 4DPLEX’s existing 4DX and ScreenX technologies. 4DX is an enhanced viewing format that incorporates moving chairs, wind, spray effects and more to heighten the viewing experience. Meanwhile, ScreenX is a 270-degree panoramic format that projects extensions to the main screen, beamed by additional projectors onto specially fitted side walls in the theater. The format beat out competition by Fusion by GoPro and Nvidia ShieldTv by Nvidia.
"It is an honor to have received the Silver award, and the testament to our commitment to developing unique technologies to immerse people around the world into the movies. We are very proud of '4DX with ScreenX' and look forward to bringing it to our cinema partners around the world in the years to come," stated CJ 4DPLEX CEO CHOI Byung-hwan.
It is the second time for CJ 4DPLEX to pick up a Silver Award at the Edison Awards, following their prior 2015 win for 4DX. The 4DX format recently launched its 500th international screen, maintaining its pace as one of the faster-growing premium formats in the world.
