Directors from Brazil, Macedonia Invited to Make Films in Busan

The Busan Independent Film Association (BIFA) has revealed the two foreign filmmakers and local Korean filmmaker that will participate in this year's Busan Residency Film Production Project: Dandy Kwairoz (Santos, Brazil), Sasha Stanishe (Bitola, Macedonia) and LEE Ki-nam (Busan).

The Busan Residency Film Production Project, which is now in its second year, is sponsored by the city of Busan and managed by BIFA. The program was created to commemorate the establishment of Busan as a UNESCO film city and is designed to facilitate creative exchanges between local and overseas filmmakers. BIFA will aid each filmmaker in the production of one short film during the three-week residency, which will run from April 29 to May 16.

The two foreign directors chosen to participate in this program have been active as professional filmmakers for nearly 10 years, while Korean participant LEE Ki-nam's Rain in October (2017) won a special jury award as well as the best actor award at the 19th The Independent Film Festival BUSAN, which was held last November.

Meanwhile, the three short films produced during the program will be screened at the closing films of the 2nd UNESCO Busan Inter-City Film Festival, which will be held at the Busan Cinema Center from May 17 to 20.
