Hollywood Stars Join Florence Pugh in THE LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL Adaptation
PARK Chan-wook’s first foray into scripted television is nearing its production start date and has added Hollywood stars Michael Shannon and Alexander Skarsgård, who join previously announced lead Florence Pugh. The Little Drummer Girl is a six-part adaptation of the John le Carré novel of the same name and is being jointly produced by The Ink Factory, BBC ONE and AMC.
Set in the 1970s, the story centers on the young actress Charlie, played by Lady Macbeth star Pugh, who meets the mysterious Becker (Skarsgård) while holidaying in Greece. He reveals himself that he is an Israeli intelligence officer and enlists Charlie in a complex political plot, orchestrated by Israeli Spymaster Kurtz (Shannon).
Acclaimed character actor Michael Shannon has appeared in critically lauded works such as Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals and Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water. PARK mentioned that “The first time I saw Michael was as one of the genius actors who delivered wonderful performances in Revolutionary Road, and ever since I’ve remained his loyal fan.”
Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård broke out as one of the leads in the HBO series True Blood and has also featured in acclaimed series on the cable network such as Generation Kill and last year’s Big Little Lies, in addition to headlining major motion pictures such as The Legend of Tarzan.
