Three Korean Films Go to Fantasporto – Oporto International Film Festival
JO Seon-ho’s mystery thriller A Day, SHIN Su-won’s mystery drama Glass Garden and KIM Jin-muk’s mystery thriller TRUE FICTION were invited to the 38th Fantasporto – Oporto International Film Festival (Fantasporto) in Portugal. Fantasporto is regarded as one of the three foremost fantastic film festivals in the world, along with Sitges International Film Festival in Spain and Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival in Belgium. Since 1981, the fest has introduced brilliant genre films through four competition and three non-competition categories every year. This year, Fantasporto invited about 100 movies from 60 countries. Among them, two Korean films (A Day and Glass Garden) were selected for the competition category.
A Day, JO Seon-ho’s debut film, received attention from abroad, being sold to about 50 countries as well as being invited to major film festivals like Sitges International Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival and Stockholm International Film Festival. Glass Garden is director SHIN Su-won’s fourth feature and is well known for being the opening film of the 22nd Busan International Film Festival. Previously, SHIN was invited to Berlinale and Cannes for PLUTO (2013) and Madonna (2015), respectively. Starring JI Hyun-woo and OH Man-seok, TRUE FICTION is schedule to be released in the first half of 2018. It will have its world premier at this year’s Fantasporto. The 38th Fantasporto will take place from February 20th to March 4th in Porto, the second largest city in Portugal.
