THE WICKED Director Returns with Horror Remake

A remake of the 1986 Korean horror film Woman’s Wail began production on December 20th. The update features Bedevilled (2010) star SEO Young-hee and is being directed by YOO Young-sun, following his 2014 debut The Wicked. Co-starring in the horror project are SON Na-eun of Kpop group Apink, PARK Min-ji and LEE Min-ho.

From director LEE Hyuk-soo, the original Woman’s Wail is a renowned work of Korean horror from the 1980s. Set during the Joseon Era, the story follows a vengeful spirit that tears apart a family of three sons, who each meet their maker on their wedding days.

Known for The Chaser (2008) and Bedevilled(2010), SEO has more recently appeared in Madonna (2015), The Accidental Detective (2015) and its sequel, which is currently in post-production.

Director YOO, who has been active as a screenwriter on several TV dramas in addition to his directing projects, debuted with The Wicked in competition at the Jeonju International Film Festival.

Adding to her career as a singer, Kpop star SON has appeared on the small screen several times. Woman’s Wail is her second feature film after Return of the Mafia in 2012. PARK Min-ji was recently seen in Canola (2016) and A Man and a Woman (2016) while LEE Min-ho has featured in Running Man (2013) and Time Renegades (2016).
