It has increased 10% more than 1,341 entries for last year, so it recorded the highest number of entries this year.

Regarding genre, the number of documentary films was 615, which was the most accounting for 40% of all entries, followed by 605 fiction films accounting for 39%. Besides, various films were submitted in different genres including experimental and animated films.

By regions, the number of films from Asia was the highest ever, while the Third World cinema including African countries has been on the increase. Although entries from Europe were usually the most, it was different this year. The finalists for this year’s edition will be announced in April after evaluation. The selection will be screened in the Green Competition and Korean Green Competition sections.

GFFIS is the biggest film festival in Asia focusing on environment issues, hosted by Korea Green Foundation. It will be held at ARTHOUSE MOMO and ECC Samsung Hall from May 18th to 24th this year.
