KOFA Adds 4 New Titles to Youtube Channel

Korean Classic Film Theater Now Servicing 102 Films for Free

The Korean Film Archive (KOFA) has added four new titles to its free Korean Classic Film Theater service on youtube. Following its launch in 2012, the channel has been periodically updated and now numbers 102 films, spanning the breadth of classic Korean film, from the 1940s until the mid-1990s.

The update includes important films from landmark classic Korean cinema auteurs SHIN Sang-ok and YU Hyun-mok. Adding to SHIN’s Mother and a Guest, Seong Chun-hyang (both 1961) and six other of his titles current available is his 1958 effort A College Woman’s Confession. Meanwhile, Forever with You (1958), from The Aimless Bullet (1961) helmer YU, marks the fifth work of the master to be included in the collection.

Joining them are A Female Boss (1959), from Madame Freedom (1956) director HAN Hyeong-mo, and King Gojong and Martyr An Jung-Geun (1959) from JEON Chang-keun. The growing selection, all free to watch and serviced with English subtitles, features a wealth of acclaimed features from recognized names such as IM Kwon-taek, KIM Soo-yong, HONG Sangsoo, BAE Chang-ho, LEE Jang-ho, KIM Ki-young and many more.
