The Film Stars Korean Actors AHN Sung-ki and PARK Si-yeon
In 2011, Korea’s Sovik Global Contents Investment Fund was established with the aim of introducing the Korean film industry to foreign markets. Produced by local Luka Production, its first Hollywood co-production The Last Knights started production in November 2012.
Directed by Casshem and Goemon director KIRIYA Kazuyaki and starring big Hollywood names Clive OWEN and Morgan FREEMAN in the lead, Korean talents also joined forces for the film. In addition to veteran thespian AHN Sung-ki and sexy icon PARK Si-yeon who played supporting roles and expanded their realm to Hollywood, Korea’s most well-known action/stunt choreographer JUNG Doo-hong also participated and directed the action scenes of The Last Knights. OWEN is known to have lauded JUNG’s action as “surprisingly vibrant and fast.”
The Last Knights is an action film set in unspecified era where a brave and loyal general (Clive OWEN) and his lord (Morgan FREEMAN) fight against a corrupt regime. Originally set to be released in the US in late 2013, the film received a limited release in April this year by Lionsgate. It is now set for a September release in Korea.
