The film Honest Candidate 2 is a political satirical comedy about a happening that takes place when Joo Sangsook (by Ra Miran), a former lawmaker who takes an opportunity to make a spectacular return, and her secretary Park Heechul (by Kim Muyeol) are unable to lie due to mysterious power. Joo Sangsook, who failed in the Seoul mayoral election, goes down to a fishing village in Gangwon-do Province. Like a miracle, she has a chance to run for governor of Gangwon-do and gets a ‘mouth of truth’ once again from a mysterious power. On top of that, secretary Park Heechul, who has been silently helping Joo Sangsook so far, also gets the mouth of truth,’ which makes the audience laugh.

As a politician, Joo Sangsook's exhilaration has become stronger than in the prequel. Sitting in the President's chair and saying, "I wondered what it feels like to sit here," she shows the backside of the power struggle in real politics through the comedy. On the other hand, the secretary played by Kim Muyeol conveys the inner feelings of ordinary office workers and makes the story more relatable.

Honest Candidate 2 is a sequel to Honest Candidate, a political satirical comedy released in 2020, and Actor Ra Miran won the Best Actress at the Blue Dragon Awards that year. Following the prequel, which was released in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic and surpassed the break-even point with 1.5 million viewers, the sequel, which has increased the intensity of political satire, is also expected to hit the box office success.
