Kang Dong-goo (LEE Je-hoon) is a cocky young grave robber. One day, he receives a tantalizing offer of a score from art curator/valuator Yoon (SHIN Hye-sun) after word gets out that an invaluable treasure may be buried in an ancient royal tomb in the heart of Seoul. Dong-hoo forms the ‘collectors’ with tomb expert Dr. Jones (JO Woo-jin) and digging specialist Sabdari (LIM Won-hee).
New caper film Collectors will bring a Korean crime-comedy twist to the tomb raiding genre, which includes the classic Indiana Jones (referenced by JO Woo-jin’s Dr. Jones character) as well as National Treasure and Tomb Raider, as it hopes to lure viewers back to theaters with its mix of thrills, laughs and culture. The film is the feature debut of director PARK Jung-bae, who was formerly HWANG Dong-hyuk’s assistant director on both Silenced (2011) and Miss Granny (2014). Leading the cast is LEE Je-hoon, known for Architecture 101 (2012) and The Phantom Detective (2016) and last seen in this year’s Netflix sci-fi crime film Time to Hunt. Along for the ride are supporting actor JO Woo-jin of Steel Rain (2017) and Money (2019), Innocence star SHIN Hye-sun, and veteran character actor LIM Won-hee of Dachimawa Lee (2008) and the Along with the Gods series.
