Lee-young (SHIN Min-a), Korea’s top diver, has it all - the talent, the looks and a winning personality. The only thing that’s ever held her back is her best friend Su-jin (LEE Yoo-young), who she’s’ been diving with since childhood. Su-jin never makes the cut but the coach has kept her on for Lee-young’s sake. After failing to make the cut once again, Lee-young takes a risk by adding synchronizing swimming with Su-jin to her events. One night, after their practice, the friends are involved in a car accident. Su-jin has disappeared and Lee-young has no memory of the night.
Popular actress SHIN Min-a is making a long-awaited comeback to theaters in the noir diving mystery-thriller Diva, six years after appearing in the hit romantic comedy My Love, My Bride(2014), though she did have a cameo in ZHANG Lu’s A Quiet Dream in 2016. Besides SHIN’s return, the film has been drawing a lot of interest ever since it was first announced for its combination of noir themes, interesting subject matter, two female leads (LEE Yoo-young stars alongside SHIN) and a new woman director in CHO Seul-ye, who previously worked as a writer on both VANISHING TIME: A BOY WHO RETURNED (2016) and A Taxi Driver (2017).
