Starving brand-tillers had once traditionally taken anyone older than seventy deep into the mountains to leave them to die. It became a rule because food was so scarce. According to the tradition, a man takes his mother to the mountains to desert her. But thinking that one day he too will be deserted like this, he decides to disobey the dreadful rule.
