Synopsis
BAE Gi-sam is a middle aged haenyeo living on the Jeju Island. Her life is cut off from the world, isolated in the sea, her job, and her small home she once shared with the deceased child.
Her younger brother BAE Cheol-geun, who is a gangster, sends her KIM Gwang-hyuk, a half-black boy, to hide after he made the boy steal from the gang.
She is thrown into an unexpected and unusual house-sharing arrangement.
Gi-sam and Gwang-hyuk, who have been marginalized by society, come to rely on each other and form a sense of fellowship.
As their shared world begins to take shape, the gang finds him and come to Jeju to take revenge. The gang shoot Gwang-hyuk in the head. Although he survives, he is left with severe brain damage. Gi-sam and Gwang-hyuk lose all will, and they become trapped in their own world, and he begs her to let him go.
The emptiness that filled their lives before they met each other returns. They head to the sea, their last remaining haven, to seek salvation.
