Created in 2010, the Women's Film Festival in Gwangju is an event that promotes gender equality, the development of culture that provides fair opportunities for women, and the strengthening of the network between female filmmakers.

- Asian Women's Today
A section that highlights the life of Asian women who don't conform to the popularized image of Asian women and are rarely shown in films.

- Women Fighters Who Will Not Be Forgotten
A section on the great women who shall be remembered for never giving up their fight throughout Korea's modern history.

Special Sections
- Masterclass
A special program with a screening and a talk with a prominent figure of women's films in Korea. This year, this section is dedicated to film director Lee Kyoung-mi.

Regional Women Film Festivals Exchange Section
A special screening of films suggested by women's film festivals in Busan, Incheon, Jeju, and North Jeolla Province, each directed by a local woman from that region.

Made in Gwangju
A showcase of films made by Gwangju-based filmmakers or whose narrative is set in Gwangju.

"Guin" Selected Works
Short films from debuting directors nominated to compete for the "Guin" Award for Best Film.

Barrier-Free
Screening of a film with captions and audiodescription intended for vision and language impaired people.

Frontier Competition
- Grand Prize: Prize of KRW 15,000,000.

Korean Competition
- Features Grand Prize: Prize of KRW 15,000,000.

- Shorts Grand Prize: Prize of KRW 10,000,000.


Special Award
- Special Prize for Outstanding Aesthetic Achievement: Awarded to a Korean feature documentary (competition and non-competition) that experiments with the aesthetic of the format  and displays achievements in the visual language. Prize of KRW 10,000,000.

- Special Prize for Social Solidarity: Awarded to a Korean feature documentary (competition and non-competition) that shows a strong engagement for social justice and critical thinking of the society. Prize of KRW 10,000,000.

- Special Prize for Emerging Documentary Filmmaker: Awarded to a first or second feature documentary (competition and non-competition) from an emerging Korean filmmaker. Prize of KRW 10,000,000.
