Created in 2018, the Korean Parallel Smartphone Film Festival (KPSFF) is a program that encourages the production of professional content by individuals with disabilities with an interest in media through education provided by non-disabled instructors specialized in content production. With the help of smartphones, now an essential item in our life, participants capture their own life stories on video. After they have gone through editing and post-production , the resulting film are screened in theaters during the festival.
This innovative experience not only instills confidence and motivation in individuals with disabilities but also highlights the aspiration for art in those who are often overlooked by the cultural world. Furthermore, it expands opportunities for social participation among people with disabilities, breaks down prejudices about disability-related professions, and contributes to improving awareness about disabilities.
