  • Cinemanila Takes a Shine to JUVENILE OFFENDER

  • Korean film picks up grand prize and best actor at Philippines Film Fest
    KANG Yi-kwan’s Juvenile Offender has won the top prize at the Cinemanila International Film Festival as well as the Best Actor accolade for its young lead SEO Young-ju. The festival, which ran from December 5th to 11th, awarded its Lino Brocka Grand Prize to the realist drama.
    Among other award winners, the Malaysian drama If It's Not Now Then When? picked up the Grand Jury Prize while the Best Director prize was shared by Carlos REYGADAS from Mexico and Thailand’s Nawapol THAMRONGRATTANARIT for Post Tenebras Lux and 36 respectively.
    Juvenile Offender premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and walked away with the Special Jury Prize and Best Actor award following its screening at October’s Tokyo International Film Festival. The critically-acclaimed film was released in Korea on November 22nd and will next be seen at the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, and the Black Movie Geneva Film Festival in Switzerland.
