Korean people can meet classic films restored in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of Venice Biennale Foundation and the latest Italian films that screened at the 69th Venice Film Festival. The Korean Association of Cinematheques with the Venice Biennale Foundation and Italian Cultural Center in Korea are going to hold ‘Venice in Seoul’ at the Seoul Art Cinema from December 12th, 2012 to January 6th, 2013.

The festival was established to widen the spectrum of the diversity of film culture and widen the path for exchange of foreign culture. Hidden masterpieces from all over the world that have been introduced at the Venice Film Festival over the last 80 years will screen. In addition, newly restored classic films and the latest films from Italy as well as the most recent Golden Lion winner, KIM Ki-duk’s Pieta (special screening), are in the line-up that consists of 21 films in total.

During the festival, Luigi CUCINIELLO, the managing director, and Elena POLLACCHI, Asian film programmer, of the Venice Film Festival will visit Korea. They will have a conversation with KIM and show up at the cine talk with HAN Chang-ho, a film critic specialized in Italian films. KIM Sung-ouk the program director of the Seoul Art Cinema said, “Starting with this festival, where we can meet Italia’s classic films and contemporary films at the same time, we will continue to exchange films with them.”
