HA Jung-woo’s acting career began with a supporting role in Madeleine (2003). In 2005, he finally took a leading role, appearing in YOON Jong-bin’s low-budget film The Unforgiven (2005). HA’s portrayal of a young man caught up in twisted military culture helped to establish him as a household name in Korea. Since then, he has appeared in specialty films such as Time (2006), Breath (2007), My Dear Enemy (2008) and Beastie Boys (2008) as well as major films such as Take Off (2009) and KUNDO : Age of the Rampant (2014). HA has been successful at the box office thanks to his great performances and personal attractions. He became a bankable star in Korea when he brought in 5,046,096 moviegoers for NA Hong-jin’s crime thriller The Chaser (2008) and his follow up film Take Off, in which he plays the leading role, was an even bigger box office success. In addition, he directed Chronicle of a Blood Merchant (2015), and took part in the production of A Single Rider (2017). In 2015, CHOI Dong-hoon’s period action drama Assassination was his first movie to reach over 10 million moviegoers. 

Now, only two years later, HA has done the seemingly impossible, breaking Assassination’s impressive record figure of 12.7 million viewers with his latest film, Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds in addition to bringing in more than 5 million moviegoers to concurrent release 1987: When the Day Comes. As a result, HA has joined the list of actors with more than one 10-million-viewer movie, the likes of which include SUL Kyung-gu (Silmido and Haeundae), SONG Kang-ho (The Host, The Attorney and A Taxi Driver) and HWANG Jung-min (Ode to My Father and Veteran).
