Following his Hollywood debut in the Marvel Studios tentpole Eternals, Don Lee (aka Ma Dongseok) is returning to Korean films by revisiting one of his most popular hits as he is set to reprise his role as the burly Detective Ma in The Roundup, the sequel to the 2017 crime-action hit THE OUTLAWS.

For this second instalment, the so-called ‘Beast Cop’ Ma Seokdo heads to a foreign country to extradite a suspect, but almost as soon as he arrives, he learns about additional crimes attributed to a vicious murderer who has been attacking tourists in the region for years. Detective Ma and his team have to go deep and push further than they ever have before to apprehend this dangerous new criminal.

THE OUTLAWS was the surprise hit of the Chuseok holidays in 2017 when it welcomed 6.8 million viewers (USD 51.9 million). Playing the villain, following Yoon Kyesang’s turn as the antagonist in the original, will be Son Sukku, the rising star seen in Netflix’s D.P., the 2019 vehicular action-thriller Hit-and-Run Squad and the recent romantic comedy Nothing Serious. Handling the director’s reigns this time around is Lee Sangyong, marking his directorial debut after having served as the assistant director on THE OUTLAWS as well as Long Live the King (2019).
