PRODUCTION INTENT

Rampant lookism drives women, and men, across the world to undergo incredible pains to achieve good looks.
Can we not be loved for the way we are naturally?
The protagonistis a woman who is undervalued by society due to her looks.
Her transformation into a beautiful woman, sheds light on society’s double standards on beauty.
By doing so, the film aims to remind the viewers that true beauty comes from the inside.

SYNOPSIS

❄The ugly duckling comes to Shanghai
Height 175cm, weight 90kg.
WANG Chao-chao is a large, 23-year old woman whose looks are reminiscent of the Chow Chow dog breed.
Back home in Gansu Province, people often said that she looked healthy and that she was cute. However, here in the city, where she hopes to become a fashion designer, she is ridiculed for her looks.

❄A Cinderella is born
Top Chinese actress AN Ting-ting (32).
Her fashion company ‘Princess’ holds a competition, and Chao-chao wins the top prize.
She rises to stardom as headlines such as ‘A Cinderella is born’ and ‘Unknown designer storms into Princess’ fill the media.

❄A society willing to use even ugliness for commercial gains
However, everything is part of a marketing strategy by AN Ting-ting.
When Chao-chao, who has very little to do with beauty, shows great talent, AN Ting-ting planned to use her in a marketing gimmickto promote ‘Princess’ as a brand that can turn ugly women into beauties, and ugly men into handsome men.

❄Hope found in despair
When she finds out the truth, Chao-chao is shocked and she takes a walk in the park, where she finds a shoe the legendary actress CAO Sing-wie dropped.

❄A fantasy world opened by the magic shoe
CAO Sing-wie’s shoe transforms Chao-chao, and she becomes the protagonist in a Cinderella story.
