  • by LEE Ji-hye  /  Oct 13, 2014
  • Will My Love, My Bride Be Able to Catch Up with All about My Wife?

My Love, My Bride painted the Korean box office pink over the weekend. The romantic comedy surpassed 780,000 admissions in five days since its release on October 8th, outclassing Dracula Untold and Whistle Blower. Dracula Untold was released on the same day as My Love, My Bride while Whistle Blower topped the box office at number one in the previous week. Consequently My Love, My Bride became the first Korean romantic comedy to rank first at the box office this year.  My Love, My Bride drew 485,251 spectators over the weekend only, reaching 787,535 viewers in total.

Can the remake of My Love, My Bride break a new record in the history of Korean romantic comedy films as the original LEE Myung-se film created a syndrome by drawing 171,561 audiences in Seoul alone in 1990 In Korea, All about My Wife directed by MIN Kyu-dong is the all-time top grossing romantic comedy film in Korea which chalked up 4,598,583 admissions.

All about My Wife also attracted viewers through a story about a couple in trouble like My Love, My Bride. My Love, My Bride’s five-day box office run since its release is similar to that of All about My Wife. This fact fuels expectations for a rise of My Love, My Bride at the box office in the future.
