Masquerade chosen to be an opening film
The very first Atlanta Korean Film Festival is being held in Atlanta, the biggest city in the state of Georgia. With the opening on October 5, from Oct. 6-12, 17 Korean films including
My Way,
As One,
Helpless are to be screened in cities like Atlanta, Sandy Springs and Athens. As the opening film,
Masquerade currently making a hit in Korea has been chosen.
The festival has sent invitations to actor
PARK Joong-hoon, director
KANG Je-kyu and to those actively working in America such as GO Young-ju, Nancy LANG. As for director KANG Je-kyu, during the festival, he is planning to do a special lecture on Korean Film at Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology and an interview with an influential press. The organization committee has decided to give director of the year awards to
HAN Ji-seung who directed
Papa and Christine YOO of
Wedding Palace, acknowledging their contribution to the interaction between Korean and American culture.
Atlanta Korean Film Festival is the 4th one to be held in America followed by New York, Washington DC and Los Angeles. The chairman of the organizing committee and also the consul general at Atlanta KIM Hee-bum said with assurance that this film festival is going to work as a catalyst to spread out korean wave more widely and to introduce the excellence of the Korean pop culture to the southern part of America.
