  • AFCNet announces first meeting of the year

  • With its secretariat at the Busan Film Commission (BFC), the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) has announced this year’s first board meeting will be held March 20 during the Hong Kong Filmart (March 19 – 22).
    A networking body between film commissions and film shooting support organizations throughout Asia, AFCNet is a nonprofit organization. Members of AFCNet share information about locations, regulations and customs clearance and promote the balanced growth of Asian film industries.
    The organization has 46 members from 17 countries including the Bali Film Center where Oliver Stone recently wrapped shooting <Savages>. Other members include Korea’s Cheongpung Film Commission (CFC), Japan Film Commission, Australia’s Film Gold Coast, Cambodia Film Commission, and its latest addition, the Myanmar Motion Picture Enterprise (MMPE) in the country’s Ministry of Information.
    AFCNet will also carry out public relations activities at through BFC’s corner of the Korean Film Center(KOFIC pavilion) at Hong Kong Filmart.
    The organization’s first board meeting of 2012 will discuss and review issues such as membership approval, awards, establishing an AFCNet ASEAN committee, PR and marketing strategies, and an ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project.
    Next month, CFC will host the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) board meeting which will be held in Jecheon City, April 10 - 13. Cheongpung, an area of Jecheon, has become a shooting location for more than 20 films and TV shows annually and is endeavoring to expand its reach internationally. The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) and CFC are also planning to co-host a meeting between AFCI members and Korean film industry professionals in Jecheon.
