The 17th edition of Seoul Independent Documentary Film & Video Festival (SIDOF) finalized 30 documentary films at the New Korean Independent Documentaries section. A total of 140 entries - 30 features and 110 shorts - applied for this year’s submissions from November 18th to December 19th last year and 30 finals - 11 features and 19 shorts - were selected to meet audiences.

SIDOF 2017 will take place at Lotte Cinema Hongdae from March 23rd to 30th with four sections: New Korean Independent Documentaries, Focus of the Year, Forum Project and Focus of Asia. Recent trend of local documentaries can be seen at the New Korean Independent Documentaries section. The section includes notable feature-length documentaries like YUN Ga-hyun’s The Part-Time Workers’ Union which appealed at the Seoul Independent Film Festival in 2016, KIM Jeong’s Sound of Nomad: Koryo Arirang which was introduced at the EBS International Documentary Festival last year, JEONG Su-eun’s One Warm Spring Day which was invited to the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival and LEE Soo-jung’s Time to Read Poems which was screened at the Busan International Film Festival.

Besides 30 documentaries, Second March and Mother Father and I will be showed at this section, which were supported by SIDOF’s Spring Project in 2016.
