  • May 25, 2005
  • The Busan Asian Short Film Festival, which for over 20 years has served as a showcase for young filmmaking talent from Korea and abroad, held its 2005 edition from May 4-8 in Busan. Featuring 133 short works from 23 countries, the BASFF featured special sections devoted to Iranian and Japanese cinema and workshops devoted to digital filmaking, in addition to its main competition section for Asian films. This year, the winner of the top prize, the Dong-back Award (worth 5 million won and 5000 ft. of Kodak 16mm film) was Korean director KIM Hyo-jeong's Rabbits and Bears. Director KIM is a student at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. Other award-winning films include SHIN Dong-seok's Stirring Ripple, about a mother and her family driving to the temple; and PARK Su-young and PARK Jae-young'sThe Fucking Family, about a peaceful family which learns that they are about to be hit by a nuclear missile.
