  • The Film Jeong-sun Won 2 Awards, Grand Jury Prize & Best Actress at Rome Film Fest
  • by Park Hyejin /  Oct 31, 2022
  •

At the 17th Rome International Film Festival held at the Parco Della Musica Auditorium in Rome, Italy on the 22nd of October (local time), Director Jeong Jihye's Jeong-sun won the Grand Jury Prize and lead actor Kim Geumsoon took home the Best Actress award. The official website of the Rome Film Festival reported the results of the award ceremony and posted a still cut from the film Jeong-sun, which won two major awards, as the main picture.

Jeong-sun depicts the story based on illegal video leakage between lovers. The victim of digital sex crimes in the film is Jeong-sun, a single middle-aged female worker working in a food factory. Jeong-sun, who is seeing her co-worker and falling in love with him, is in trouble one day when a private video illegally filmed by her lover spread in the company. The film presented a middle-aged woman as a victim of digital sex crimes to deliver a message that digital sex crimes do not happen only to certain age groups.

Jeong-sun, Director Jeong Jihye's feature debut film, is the only Korean film invited to the official competition section of the Rome Film Festival. Earlier in April this year, the film was invited to the 23rd Jeonju International Film Festival and won the Grand Prize at the Korean Competition. It was also invited to the 70th San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain and the First Feature Competition of the 66th BFI London Film Festival.

Launched in 2006, the Rome International Film Festival marked its 17th anniversary this year, which is considered one of Italy's two leading cinematic festivals along with the Venice International Film Festival.
