  • ‘72m Wide’ CGV Yeongdeungpo ScreenX Theater, Certified as the World's Longest Screen
  • by Park Hyejin /  Oct 17, 2022

  •

On October 11, CGV announced that ScreenX Theater in CGV Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, was certified by the Korea Record Institute as the world's largest movie screening screen. CGV will also challenge global certification based on this record.

ScreenX is a special theater in the form of an extended screen with both walls. CGV Yeongdeungpo ScreenX Theater is equipped with the world's longest fixed projection screen with a total floor space of 883.5㎡, featuring a combined width of 72m and a height of 13.9m at its highest point. The center screen is 25m wide, and the screens that unfold to the left and right are 47m, which is a total of 72m.

CGV Yeongdeungpo ScreenX Theater renewed its existing Starium Hall on June 11 and reopened it with 462 seats to showcase the world's first ‘ScreenX PLF (Premium Large Format).’ It combines a performance-specific system and private boxes for small groups of viewers consisting of two to four people.

In addition, it has the world's largest surround system, and the left and right screens and 10 projectors complete a wide view, giving the audience a deeper immersion. In particular, if the existing ScreenX Theaters used the left and right walls as they were, ‘Yeongdeungpo ScreenX Theater’ installed silver screens on both sides of the theater, enabling viewers to enjoy movies at a higher quality.

Kim Jongyeol, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX said, "We’re happy that CGV Yeongdeungpo ScreenX Theater, which provides you a magnificent, overwhelming experience that you will never have in existing Screen X, has been certified by the Korea Record Institute as the world's longest screen," adding, "Based on this certification, we will challenge the global certification to achieve meaningful results."
