  • Hostage Drama from JK Films Aims for Chuseok Holiday

The upcoming star-studded Korean hostage thriller The Negotiation will hit screens in September, just in time for the busy Chuseok holiday. From first-time director LEE Jong-seok, the film features popular names SON Ye-jin and Hyun-bin.

SON plays Chae-yoon, a hostage negotiator for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency who goes head-to-head with Hyun-bin’s weapons smuggler Tae-goo, who stages a hostage scenario that Chae-yoon only has 12 hours to solve.

SON recently paired up with SO Ji-sub for the hit melodrama Be With You. Prior to that, SON appeared in the popular period drama The Last Princess (2016) and the critically acclaimed thriller The Truth Beneath (2016), both released in 2016.

Last seen in the 2017 Lunar New Year box office champ Confidential Assignment (2017) and the crime drama The Swindlers (2017), Hyun-bin takes on his first villain role in The Negotiation. He will also be seen in the period action-horror Rampant, scheduled for release in October.

The Negotiation is the latest film from hitmaker JK Film, the production company founded by director JK YOUN. The outfit has been responsible for several all-time hits, such as Haeundae (2009) and Ode to My Father (2014), on which director LEE Jong-seok worked as an assistant director. JK Film also released Hyun-bin's Confidential Assignment, while their most recent title was the successful human drama Keys to the Heart earlier this year.
