  • SONG Kang-ho and Marina GOLBAHARI Set as BIFF Hosts
  • by Pierce Conran /  Sep 15, 2015
  • Stars to Open 20th Edition
The Busan International Film Festival has set its hosts for the opening ceremony of next month’s 20th edition. Wielding the microphones at the Busan Cinema Center will be Korean star SONG Kang-ho, currently starring in The Throne, and Afghani actress Marina GOLBAHARI.
SONG, who previously hosted the BIFF opening ceremony in 2001, has cemented his status as one of the all time greats in Korea, starring in such classic modern fare as Joint Security Area / JSA (2000), Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002), Memories Of Murder (2003), The Host (2006) and Secret Sunshine (2007).
GOLBAHARI follows Chinese thespian TANG Wei as only the second foreign performer to take on hosting duties at BIFF. She had her big break with 2003’s Osama and is now one of Afghanistan’s leading performers, remaining busy despite the nation’s difficult environment.
The actors were invited as hosts by BIFF to demonstrate the festival’s commitment to highlighting works from all corners of Asia. Following the opening ceremony, the festival will officially kick off with a screening of the Indian film Zubaan from director Mozez SINGH. This year’s BIFF will run until October 10th.
