  • EBS International Documentary Festival Gears Up for the 12th Edition
  • by Kobiz Reporter /  Aug 20, 2015
  • Global Documentaries Set for Screening

The EBS International Documentary Festival will be held in Seoul between 24—30 August. The 12th edition of the annual documentary festival will feature 52 documentaries from 32 countries.

This year’s catch phrase is “Connecting with the World”. “Documentary is full of thematic diversity just like various forms of life in this world and it makes us dream about the society where co-exist different lives and diverse values embracing lives of isolated and marginalized individuals. This year’s catch phrase “Connecting with the World” represents our vision striving towards a world where we can restore crumbling community values and respect other people’s opinions,” says the festival on its website.

Opening screener Good Things Await tells the story of an idealistic Danish farmer Niels STOKHOLM, whose biodynamic farming methods aren't widely accepted in the European Union. The film world-premiered at Berlinale earlier this year, and the EBS fest is its Korean premiere.

The upcoming edition’s jury is headed by Ally DERKS, founder of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). Fellow jury members include Shanghai Media Group’s documentary channel director GAN Chao, EBS’ 3D history documentary specialist JEONG Jae-eung, London Film School director Jane ROSCOE, NETPAC Vice President Philip CHEAH. They will select the winners from the Festival Choice competition and present three awards: the Grand Prix, Spirit Award and Special Jury Award.

As well as on-screen shows, the documentaries will also be aired on TV through EBS 1TV channel during the festival. More information can be found on http://www.eidf.co.kr/2015eng.
