Up and Coming to Star Alongside RYU Seung-ryong and LEE Sung-min
Up-and-comer LEE Joon, following his debut performance in last year’s
Rough Play, has been tapped to feature in new thriller
Guest. The rising star joins already confirmed actors RYU Seung-ryong and LEE Sung-min.
In the film, which takes place in the wake of the Korean War, RYU will appear as a man who moves to a remote mountain village with his son, played by LEE Joon. Mysterious events begin to take place, many pointing to the village elder, to be played by LEE Sung-min.
LEE Joon, known to fans as a member of the K-pop group MBLAQ, debuted to great acclaim in SHIN Yeon-shick’s Rough Play as a rising star who is quickly corrupted by fame. He won the Best Newcomer Award at the inaugural Wildflow Film Awards for Korean independent cinema earlier this year.
Also joining the cast is CHUN Woo-hee, who turned a lot of heads recently, following her leading role in the breakout indie Han Gong-ju. The film marks the directing debut of KIM Gwang-tae, formerly the assistant director on E J-yong’s Untold Scandal (2003).
Guest will begin production towards the end of May, following RYU’s return from the Cannes Film Festival, where he is currently promoting his new thriller The Target, which was invited to the festival’s Midnight Screenings.
