10-Year Career as 'Wide Angle' Programmer for BIFF
HONG Hyo-sook, a programmer of the
Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) was appointed as a jury member of the ‘International Short Film’ section of the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, starting on February 7th. HONG has worked in a wide range of domains including independent film making for over 10 years at many organizations such as film club ‘Uri (We)’, female filmmakers’ organization ‘Bariteo’ and ‘Seoul Visual Collective’.
Since she started working at BIFF in 1997, she has worked as the programmer of the ‘Wide Angle’ section for 10 years. Also, as the chairwoman at the organizing committee of the Asian Cinema Fund, she endeavors to support and make independent documentary films, not only Korea but also all across Asia.
The other jury members she will work alongside with for the ‘International Short Competition’ of the Berlin International Film Festival are the Spaniard film director Javier FESSER and the German art planner Susanne PFEFFER.
